Certified Port Wine Educator

Last month Robert had the opportunity to join the Certified Port Wine Educator course held by Port’s official regulator, the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto in Porto city and the Douro Valley.

A full itinerary of theory and tasting classes were held at the Institute’s offices, followed by a visit to Grahams wonderful Port lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia. A quick trip was then made to the Douro Valley where educators visited producers Alves de Sousa and Quinta do Tedo.

The group then returned to Porto for a blind tasting and theory exam, followed by an essay submission on a Port theme. Following consideration by the Institute, Robert is now a fully Certified Port Educator and looks forward to sharing his knowledge with Wine Academy Italia students.
