WSET courses Italy, where to start?

This year seems to be passing by at a brisk pace, we have just finished a fabulous week running WSET Level 3 Award in Wines & Spirits at Serego Alighieri #Masi in #Valpolicella. Next, we head off to Argiolas in Sardegna and Donnafugata in Sicilia, so fortunate to have such amazing venues across Italy.

One common question that we are frequently asked is “where should I start? At what level should I join WSET courses?”  Often those who have wine business experience and/or Italian Sommelier certification are unsure of the best level to study first.

WSET Level 1 is a simple and straightforward course for those people with little knowledge about wine.

We suggest that the best place to join WSET studies is Level 2, even if you have other wine qualifications. Students have the opportunity to reinforce their learning about the whole world of wine and familiarise themselves with the WSET approach before attempting the next level.

Entry to WSET Level 3 can be made directly, but only by passing our test to make sure that you have the correct understanding of world wines.  Level 3 is a very demanding course, to have the best chance of a pass grade, students base knowledge must be at least that of a successful WSET Level 2 candidate. Preparation with WSET materials prior to the course is also very important.

Even those with significant tasting experience will find that the WSET Systematic Approach to Wine Tasting differs from methods they may have studied in the past.
